Maximizers vs. "satisficers"

This article about the search for better quality of life out of the Bay Area reminded me of the reason why I tend to move around looking for new places.

According to the article, the need for better quality should be balanced against what one really loses leaving a big urban environment to settle in a more provincial one.

40 miles

The last 2 weeks in the Bay Area have been really productive. The quality and quantity of people that I met is really impressive.

I like technology, so I guess that's the place where it makes sense to be for me. The reality, though, is that it is not just about technology, but also about vision and being able to discuss about the future without limits, either cultural, ideological, or you name it. Not everybody here is this way, but some are, and that's what counts in the end.

SV 101

Yesterday Shel gave me the first lesson of "Silicon Valley 101" :-)

He was a great host taking me around Palo Alto and Stanford. As usual we had a great conversation about many subjects: cultural diversities, social media, the economy, life, etc ...

He also wrote an interesting post about how blogging and social media allowed him to get in touch with the world.

BAIA

BAIA is the Business Association Italy America. They are based in Silicon Valley and help Italian Entrepreneurs with contacts and opportunities in the Valley.

Franco Folini from BAIA interviewed me a few days ago. The interview is online.

Agree 100%

Smells like bubble and it is not fun anymore.

This is why I am more and more interested in Microbiology and Artificial Intelligence and I am bored of Web 2.0 (as a word and as a state of mind).
